TL;DR
Building Engineer I (HVAC/Building Systems): Maintaining, inspecting, and troubleshooting HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building automation systems in a commercial property environment with an accent on preventive maintenance, tenant service requests, and safety compliance. Focus on diagnosing equipment issues, responding to emergencies and severe weather events, and coordinating with senior engineers, contractors, and property managers.
Location: Charlotte, NC; 100% in-office with no remote work or telecommuting

What you will do
- Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance for building systems.
- Respond to tenant service requests involving HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and hot or cold calls.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and escalate complex issues to senior engineers.
- Replace fixtures, filters, and other building components while maintaining accurate inspection and equipment records.
- Conduct property inspections, support contractor oversight, and participate in on-call rotations and emergency response.
- Work with tenants, contractors, property managers, senior engineers, and technicians while developing technical skills.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of job-related experience or equivalent certification or trade experience.
- Engineering and trade licenses required under applicable local, state, or national requirements.
- Familiarity with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, with developing experience in BAS operation and troubleshooting.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Outlook and work-order, email, and training applications.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
- Must already be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
