Staff Data Scientist (AI/ML)

Location: Fully remote within the United States, operating on Eastern Time from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; occasional travel of less than 5% per year. Public trust clearance requires U.S. citizenship or eligibility through the Foreign National Government System, including living in the United States for at least 3 of the previous 5 years and valid visa/work permit documentation where applicable.

Salary: $160,600–$175,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain statistical, machine learning, predictive, and AI models.
• Analyze large structured and unstructured datasets with Python, Pandas, and SQL to identify patterns, anomalies, risks, and relationships.
• Develop semantic layer architectures and scale natural language processing solutions using semantic analysis, OCR, and large language models.
• Translate investigative and business questions into analytical approaches and actionable findings with stakeholders.
• Create dashboards, visualizations, and analytical products that communicate methods, results, and recommendations.
• Collaborate with data engineers and technical teams to deploy analytics and machine learning solutions in cloud environments.

Requirements

• U.S. public trust clearance eligibility is required.
• 10+ years of applied experience in data science, machine learning, computer science, mathematics, or a related technology field, or an advanced degree in a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with Python, Pandas, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, statistical modeling, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, and modern AI techniques.
• Experience with semantic layer development, natural language processing, and analytical work on large datasets.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud environments.
• Excellent written and spoken English and the ability to work Eastern Time hours are required.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in computer science, data science, machine learning, mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Experience with data architecture, fraud or program-integrity analytics, risk scoring, anomaly detection, or investigative leads.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure services such as Azure Machine Learning, Synapse Analytics, AI Foundry, or AI Search.
• Experience with OCR, semantic similarity, entity resolution, LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, or network visualizations.
• Cloud, AI, or machine learning certifications.
