Manufacturing Quality Engineer (AI Hardware)

Location: San Jose, United States; requires regular on-site collaboration with international suppliers and 30–40% travel.

Salary: $120,000–$300,000 annual base salary.

What you will do

• Build the quality engineering function, strategy, frameworks, and systems from the ground up.
• Define, audit, and improve manufacturing quality systems and processes to optimize yields.
• Partner with Industrial Design, Product Design, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure designs are manufacturable at scale.
• Lead supplier selection and quality audits against rigorous inspection standards.
• Own quality schedules, capital expenditures, and operational requirements from architecture through production ramp.
• Drive on-site supplier quality improvements through regular international collaboration.

Requirements

• 5+ years leading quality engineering initiatives in high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing.
• Deep expertise in GD&T, ASME Y14.5 drafting standards, process capability, and metrology design.
• Experience with CMM, OMM, profilometry, and AOI systems.
• Experience across CNC, injection molding, stamping, and compression molding processes.
• Proven success scaling high-volume products through multiple production ramp cycles.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.

Nice to have

• Advanced metrology experience with laser scanning, interferometry, photometry, or colorimetry.
• Experience driving module assembly quality and understanding part-level effects on system quality.
• Experience with data analysis and visualization software.
• Experience using AI-driven tools for root cause analysis, predictive quality modeling, or workflow automation.
