TL;DR
Product Development Engineer (Analytical Hardware) (Semiconductor Chemical Analysis): Developing and testing analytical devices for semiconductor chemical process control, spanning microfluidic dispensing and spectrophotometric measurements with an accent on requirements analysis, conceptual design, materials compatibility, and system validation. Focus on defining device specifications, executing test plans, troubleshooting fluidic, optical, mechanical, electromechanical, and software systems, and supporting manufacturing and field escalations.

Location: Totowa, New Jersey, USA; onsite in the System Engineering group. Occasional domestic and international travel required, less than 20%.

Salary: $85,600–$125,533 annually

What you will do

  • Define requirements and specifications for chemical analysis processes with Applications, R&D, and engineering teams.
  • Evaluate available technologies, identify capability gaps, and develop improvement and test plans with suppliers.
  • Design and validate new analytical devices covering microfluidic dispensing, spectrophotometric measurements, materials compatibility, and related systems.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and control engineering groups to review designs and test plans.
  • Execute tests, analyze device and system performance, troubleshoot subsystem issues, and implement solutions.
  • Support customers and manufacturing teams, including advanced troubleshooting in production and the field.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with no related work experience, or bachelor’s degree with two years of related experience.
  • Strong engineering or physical science background with demonstrated analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience or academic background in microfluidic systems, dispensing, materials science, spectrophotometry, fiber optics, mechanical or electrical engineering, physics, or related disciplines.
  • Familiarity with scientific and statistical analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
  • Understanding of mechanical, fiber-optic, fluidic, electromechanical, motion-control, software, and control systems and their interactions.
  • Ability to work in chemical laboratories and cleanrooms, troubleshoot complex systems, and respond quickly to internal and field escalations.
