Director, Legal - Critical Infrastructure (US)

Location: New York, San Francisco, or Seattle, United States

Base salary: $210,000–$340,000 USD, plus potential bonus, equity, and/or commission.

What you will do

• Lead negotiations for owner-contractor, EPC, and design-build agreements supporting US data center campus construction.
• Draft and negotiate design, consultancy, equipment supply, installation, and operations and maintenance agreements.
• Support site acquisitions, development arrangements, ground leases, power procurement, utility, interconnection, and power purchase agreements.
• Manage contracts through delivery and closeout, including change orders, cost and schedule claims, payment and retention issues, defects, and dispute avoidance.
• Maintain infrastructure contract templates and playbooks while driving consistent commercial and legal positions across projects.
• Coordinate with construction, procurement, finance, real estate, energy, operations, insurance, regulatory, project finance, and external legal teams.

Requirements

• 7+ years of construction and infrastructure legal experience in-house and/or at a top-tier law firm.
• Significant experience negotiating construction EPC, design-build, professional services, and equipment supply agreements for large-scale, mission-critical, or industrial projects.
• Strong understanding of construction risk allocation, including pricing, delay remedies, warranties, defects, indemnity, insurance, liability, and dispute resolution.
• Experienced first-chair negotiator able to manage multiple high-value contracts through signature.
• Ability to explain complex legal and commercial risks to non-lawyers and senior stakeholders.
• Qualified attorney admitted in at least one US state and in good standing.

Nice to have

• Experience with a hyperscaler, colocation provider, data center developer, major contractor, or infrastructure investor.
• Energy and power project experience, including equipment supply, O&M, utility and interconnection, or power purchase arrangements.
• Construction claims and dispute resolution experience.
