TL;DR
Project Engineer II (Aerospace & Defense): Managing aerospace and defense projects from initial design concepts through final delivery with an accent on technical oversight, requirements management, systems integration, and customer coordination. Focus on developing project plans and risk mitigation strategies, resolving complex engineering issues, and integrating electro-optical and infrared payloads across ground, airborne, or space platforms.

Location: Lone Tree, Colorado, United States; primarily office or hybrid work. Occasional travel to customer or field locations may be required.

Estimated starting salary: $165,010.21–$226,889.04 per year, plus performance-based annual incentive pay.

What you will do

  • Manage detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, risks, and mitigation strategies across the product lifecycle.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to multidisciplinary engineering and development teams.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for external customers and coordinate requirements fulfillment.
  • Prepare project status reports covering progress, risks, issues, and contingency plans.
  • Identify and resolve project issues while implementing process improvements and project management best practices.
  • Support the integration, testing, certification, and delivery of aerospace and ISR systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; a higher relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering principles and practices, requirements management, system design, and systems integration.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary design and development teams.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. security clearance are required.
  • Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment and in potentially hazardous project-site environments.

Nice to have

  • Leadership or project management experience, advanced project management methodologies, and familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience preparing estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule plans.
  • Experience with baseline definition, trade studies, analysis of alternatives, and low-TRL payload development.
  • INCOSE experience or certification and the ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Aerospace and defense experience, including IR/EO systems, payload integration, and deployment on ground, airborne, or space platforms.
