TL;DR
Systems Engineer (Aerospace) (Airplane Networks): Defining, integrating, and validating highly reliable software systems for airplane network systems with an accent on requirements decomposition, certification, safety analysis, and interface validation. Focus on troubleshooting flight-test and in-service issues, conducting risk and trade-off analyses, and coordinating software integration across engineering stakeholders.

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the local office or onsite with clients

Base salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year, plus performance-based incentives

What you will do

  • Define and decompose software system requirements for airplane network systems.
  • Work with software developers and test engineers to validate reliable system functionality and interfaces.
  • Plan, execute, and troubleshoot complex software systems integration activities.
  • Perform risk management, trade-study analysis, development assurance, safety analysis, and systems integration.
  • Investigate flight-test and in-service issues with stakeholders and identify corrective actions.
  • Compare project results with baseline plans to assess performance, efficiency, productivity, and lessons learned.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, or 7+ years with an advanced degree.
  • Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry; ABET accreditation is preferred.
  • Experience with airplane software development and certification under RTCA DO-178C.
  • Experience with DOORS or a similar requirements development and management tool.
  • Experience in requirements definition, validation and verification, development assurance, safety analysis, and systems integration.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ARP4754A airplane systems development and certification.
  • Experience with airplane networks, communication systems, flight deck operations, and electronic flight bags.
  • Experience with Jira, test procedures, lab testing, network protocols, routing tables, and network architecture.
