Sr/Staff PCB Layout Designer (Robotics)

Location: San Jose, CA; in-office collaboration required

Salary: $150,000–$250,000 annually

An AI robotics company developing a general-purpose humanoid for corporate tasks associated with labor shortages and unsafe or undesirable work.

What you will do

• Design PCB layouts for new and existing hardware from initial component placement through production.
• Prepare and release fabrication and assembly files.
• Perform and manage vendor DFx reports to support high-yield manufacturing.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and thermal engineers.
• Manage external PCB layout contractors.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience in PCB layout design.
• Strong experience with Altium and power converter designs from 10 W to over 1 kW.
• Strong experience with flex, rigid-flex, and HDI designs.
• Strong understanding of DFx, ICT/FCT design, rule-based design, creepage and clearance, and high-speed design rules.
• Experience designing for EMI/EMC, proposing and selecting materials and stackups, and applying electrical engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to collaborate in the San Jose office is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-speed designs above 8 GHz and RF.
• Experience with ANSYS, HyperLynx, Keysight, or similar simulation software.
• Experience with high-voltage applications above 60 V and compliance requirements.
• Experience with advanced PCB technologies such as 3D mid, IMS, embedded coin/bus-bar, embedded passives, or planar transformers.
• Experience with PLM systems.
