Cyber Security Engineer (Job 1480)

Location: Bethesda, Maryland, United States; onsite support for a federal client

Basic compensation: $150,000–$170,000 yearly salary

What you will do

• Integrate Zero Trust Architecture through gap analysis, security maturity assessments, and risk-based control implementation.
• Contribute to enterprise security architecture, identity and access management, and cloud security design.
• Lead vulnerability management, including assessment, risk prioritization, remediation, and analysis of CVE and CISA KEV intelligence.
• Perform vulnerability assessments with Tenable Nessus and web application scanners, and use Microsoft Defender Antivirus and endpoint tools for threat detection and response.
• Integrate security controls and automated SCA, SAST, and DAST scanning into CI/CD pipelines and software development practices.
• Develop Splunk SIEM queries, dashboards, and reports while improving continuous monitoring across on-premises, cloud, and container environments.

Requirements

• Senior-level cybersecurity experience with a bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of experience, a master's degree and at least 6 years, or a high school diploma and at least 12 years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience with vulnerability management, CVSS-based risk prioritization, threat intelligence, CVEs, and CISA KEV.
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD security, Microsoft Defender Antivirus, endpoint security, vulnerability scanning, Tenable Nessus, SIEM platforms, and cloud or containerized environments.
• Knowledge of NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA, ISO 27001, CIS Benchmarks, DISA STIGs, enterprise security architecture, and Zero Trust.
• Working knowledge of AI security risk management frameworks and translating AI/ML use cases into security controls and governance decisions.
• Active Public Trust Clearance is required upon joining.

Nice to have

• CYSA, CISSP, cloud security, Azure Security Engineer Associate, DevSecOps, secure development, vulnerability management, or threat intelligence certifications.
• Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Bash scripting and automation.
