Software Engineer (Advertising)

Location: San Francisco, CA; full-time telecommuting is an option. This is a U.S.-based role.

Base pay range: $229,000.00–$267,100.00 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Design and implement advertising products in collaboration with product managers, platform teams, and data teams.
• Design, develop, and operate backend microservices and APIs for ad ingestion, serving, validation, resolution, and data transformation.
• Build distributed, horizontally scalable systems for high-volume production traffic, including storage, caching, and observability instrumentation.
• Improve operational stability through code quality initiatives, dashboards, data visualizations, and incident-focused reliability work.
• Design and execute A/B experiments and feature rollouts while partnering with data science teams to measure ad performance.
• Lead technical design and end-to-end execution of multi-quarter projects, including timelines, documentation, updates, and cross-functional coordination.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Four years of experience in the offered role or a related occupation.
• Backend development experience with Java, Go, or Python and service-to-service API design using RPC or HTTP-based frameworks.
• Experience designing scalable backend systems, relational and NoSQL data models, query optimization, and indexing.
• Experience deploying and operating production services on AWS, including ECS or Kubernetes.
• Experience with A/B testing, feature flags, observability, automated testing, CI/CD, and digital advertising workflows.
