Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Continuous Integration)

Location: Remote Canada. The role is remote-first within the country of employment; occasional office attendance and in-person onboarding may be required.

Base pay: $181,000–$241,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own the design, scalability, and reliability of build and CI pipelines across multiple services and platforms.
• Optimize build times, test coverage, reporting, and developer feedback cycles.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response for CI systems.
• Improve deployment workflows, developer productivity, tooling, automation, and CI/CD practices across engineering.
• Define the vision for continuous integration and developer productivity infrastructure.
• Lead and mentor CI engineers while partnering with engineering leadership on platform goals.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading engineering efforts in CI, build systems, or developer productivity.
• Strong experience with modern build systems such as GitHub, Buildkite, and Artifactory.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and large monorepo build systems and frameworks.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Kotlin, Java, or a similar language.
• Equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Strong problem-solving, technical decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
