Reserving Actuarial Specialist (Insurance)

Location: Sao Paulo, Brazil; primarily in the office

What you will do

• Define technical provisions under Local GAAP and US GAAP and review reserve levels for insurance and reinsurance companies across commercial and consumer products.
• Review risk appetite, capital levels, budgets, loss ratios, financial forecasts, and portfolio profitability.
• Analyze IBNR, actual-versus-expected results, LTP studies, and reserve results for Brazil and Latin America.
• Prepare appointed actuary reports, financial statement notes, regulatory materials, and local liability adequacy tests.
• Manage actuarial databases, ensure data accuracy, and identify actions to improve portfolio profitability.
• Lead the external audit process and collaborate with Claims, FP&A, Underwriting, Product, Reinsurance, and regional actuarial teams.

Requirements

• Technical reserving and portfolio analysis experience in the insurance and reinsurance market.
• Actuarial bachelor’s degree; MIBA is required.
• Advanced English skills required.
• Programming proficiency in SAS and Python.
• Ability to work through technical and execution-level details, manage deadlines, solve problems, and develop team skills.
• Primarily office-based collaboration in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
