DBL Manager (Insurance)

Location: Elmwood Park, New Jersey, or Melville, New York, United States

Salary: $80,000–$85,000 per year

What you will do

• Manage the day-to-day operations of an assigned book of brokers and oversee Team Leaders, Broker Consultants, and Benefit Administrators.
• Monitor work quality, approve timecards and PTO requests, and manage performance.
• Train, coach, mentor, and support the development of operations staff.
• Collaborate with market leadership, Human Resources, carriers, vendors, and management teams to improve service and efficiency.
• Resolve broker and vendor service issues, process new business applications, policy changes, endorsements, and client requests.
• Advise brokers on ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, Form 5500, and health care reform compliance while identifying cross-selling and sales opportunities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a group health insurance setting; supervisory experience is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Life, Accident & Health license required.
• Expert knowledge of insurance products, services, competitive offerings, market needs, and industry trends.
• In-depth knowledge of agency management systems, underwriting, sales, service processes, and New York DBL benefit plan designs.
• Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, communication, and presentation skills, plus proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
