Powertrain Development Technician (Powersports)

Location: Wyoming, Minnesota, USA; onsite laboratory and field testing

Salary: $3.60–$31.25 per hour, plus eligibility for overtime

What you will do

• Conduct independent laboratory and field testing for powertrain development and validation programs.
• Operate and evaluate off-road vehicles to assess powertrain performance, durability, and system behavior.
• Build, disassemble, inspect, and instrument engines, continuously variable transmissions, transmissions, and complete vehicles.
• Set up powertrain hardware, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and testing software.
• Collect, interpret, and analyze test data while maintaining accurate documentation.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems and improve testing processes, methods, and procedures.

Requirements

• Technical degree related to powersports, or at least three years of powersports or small-engine experience in place of the degree.
• Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, continuously variable transmissions, and gearcases.
• Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate and evaluate off-road vehicles in laboratory and field environments.
• Ability to work around machinery, moving parts, engines, and hazardous chemicals and lift up to 50 pounds.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Exposure to ETAS INCA, AIM, or similar testing and data acquisition software.
• Familiarity with vehicle electrical systems, wiring, schematic reading, fabrication, machining, welding, Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and digital photography.
