Shop Technician (Heavy Equipment)

Location: Kent, Washington, United States; primarily shop-based with occasional field work and overnight travel

Salary: $32.00–$54.00 per hour; non-exempt and eligible for overtime

What you will do

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, air conditioning, powertrain, and other heavy equipment systems.
• Operate equipment, use hand and power tools, and work with electronic diagnostic equipment to locate and diagnose failures.
• Read hydraulic and electrical schematics and perform diagnostic testing and equipment tuning.
• Assess parts for failure causes and reusability, coordinate parts orders, and complete repair documentation and work orders.
• Communicate with customers and support other technicians on large repairs and projects.
• Work in the field when needed, including travel away from home, overnight stays, and expense account management.

Requirements

• Journey-level experience with at least two to three years of verifiable heavy equipment repair and maintenance experience.
• High school diploma required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in diesel technology or a related field is preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical problem-solving, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, perform physical work, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Must own the required tools, work overtime with minimal notice, travel away from home, and comply with DOT hours-of-service requirements.
• Safety-sensitive position requiring pre-employment testing, including cannabis testing.

• Komatsu experience as the primary equipment line.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in diesel technology or a related field.
