Intern Engineering Designer, Water

Location: US | IL | Chicago - 200 South Wacker Drive

Salary: $25.00–$27.00 per hour

What you will do

• Create conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering drawings, including plans and profiles, for water and wastewater projects.
• Prepare engineering reports, calculations, specifications, cost estimates, feasibility studies, and functional plans.
• Perform design calculations and analysis for sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and watermains.
• Support permits, approvals, contract administration, construction inspection, and project delivery.
• Coordinate with suppliers and contractors on industry standards and shop drawings.
• Contribute to multiple projects, business development proposals, and time-task matrices.

Requirements

• Working toward a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce quality results.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage time, and prioritize workloads under tight deadlines.
• Willingness to learn new software, design guidelines, standards, planning processes, and environmental assessment processes.
• Integrity, ethical judgment, and commitment to sustainable and inclusive teamwork.
• Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or MicroStation is an asset.

• Experience with ArcGIS.
