Staff Software Engineer (Distributed Storage)

Location: Santa Clara office or remote from North Carolina; hybrid

What you will do

• Define the technical vision, architecture, roadmap, and execution strategy for the Data Ocean platform.
• Design, develop, debug, and optimize production-quality C/C++ distributed storage services.
• Build intelligent caching, global namespace, data tiering, data mobility, replication, and lifecycle management capabilities.
• Architect high-performance data path and control plane services integrating object, file, and block storage across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical decisions, performance analysis, debugging, code reviews, and root-cause analysis.
• Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Architecture, infrastructure, cloud, platform, and DevOps teams to deliver production-ready software.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience developing enterprise storage systems or distributed systems software.
• Experience as a Principal Engineer, Senior Staff Engineer, or Technical Lead building complex distributed software platforms.
• Expert-level C/C++ programming skills and experience delivering production-scale distributed storage platforms.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, including consistency models, replication, fault tolerance, distributed coordination, concurrency, and scalability.
• Strong experience with object storage, distributed file systems, block storage, cloud storage architectures, technical leadership, mentoring, automated testing, and CI/CD.
