Software Engineer (Cloud)

Location: Morrisville, North Carolina, United States; hybrid working environment with in-office and/or in-person expectations

Salary: $170,000–$253,000 per year, with final compensation based on location, qualifications, experience, and education

What you will do

• Develop, test, maintain, and deploy managed cloud services and cloud-based solutions.
• Lead feature delivery across the full software development lifecycle, including product design, implementation, verification, troubleshooting, and release.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations, manage incidents, and resolve production issues within agreed SLAs and SLOs.
• Monitor system health, availability, latency, and performance using Google Cloud tooling, and implement reliability improvements.
• Deliver bug fixes, specification updates, customer root-cause analyses, and infrastructure automation.
• Mentor junior engineers, participate in interviews, and contribute to high-performance engineering teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and a demonstrated record of completing moderately complex technical tasks.
• Proficiency in C, C++, or Golang; experience with Python, Java, or C# is an advantage.
• Experience with scripting and infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby.
• Strong understanding of Linux or other Unix-like operating systems, data structures, algorithms, REST API design, and implementation.
• Deep knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, serverless computing, distributed systems, SDLC, and DevOps methodologies.
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a master's degree, or equivalent experience; Google Cloud familiarity is preferred, with AWS or Azure experience also relevant.

Nice to have

• Prior experience with filesystem development.
• Experience designing distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud or other hyperscalers such as AWS and Azure.
