Senior Software Engineer, Storage Layer Services

Location: New York City office with a hybrid working model, or remote within the North America region

Salary: $126,000–$248,000 USD base salary annually for U.S.-based candidates

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate control plane services for an elastic, multi-tenant cloud storage layer.
• Improve availability and performance during load spikes, hardware failures, cloud provider outages, and other disruptions.
• Advance operational excellence through dashboards, playbooks, observability, and on-call improvements.
• Lead complex technical projects from planning through production deployment and provide clear stakeholder updates.
• Collaborate with database, cloud, infrastructure engineering, and project management teams on incidents and long-term roadmaps.
• Mentor junior engineers and support a collaborative engineering environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience building, deploying, and operating multi-tenant cloud services.
• Experience with large backend or compiled codebases such as Rust or C/C++.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Experience with observability tooling, including time-series metrics and dashboards.
• Experience with distributed systems and familiarity with database internals or core data-processing components.
• Strong technical communication, collaboration, time management, and project-complexity assessment skills.

Nice to have

• Experience writing and profiling highly performant Rust code.
• Experience with chaos engineering and load testing.
• Experience building scalable services across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Hands-on experience or an M.Sc./Ph.D. in high-availability systems.
