Controls Engineer I (Robotics)

Location: Chelmsford, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid work arrangements may include a mix of in-office and remote work depending on the role and business needs.

Base salary: $76,526.52–$103,535.88 USD annually, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Support tuning and optimization of robot motion control parameters.
• Characterize servo performance, system stability, throughput, payload vibration, and other robotic system metrics.
• Perform design verification testing, laboratory testing, and performance data collection.
• Configure, test, release, and document control software and related tools.
• Develop MATLAB-based tools and scripts for automated data collection and analysis.
• Troubleshoot controls, software, electrical, and electromechanical issues while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics engineering, or a related field, with 0–2 years of experience.
• Knowledge of control theory and dynamic systems through coursework, research, internships, or projects.
• Exposure to robotics, mechatronics, motion control, or related disciplines.
• Basic programming experience in C and C++ and familiarity with MATLAB or similar engineering analysis tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, written, verbal, and collaborative communication skills.
• Ability to work in the Chelmsford, Massachusetts hybrid work environment, with specific in-office expectations determined during the hiring process.

Nice to have

• Experience using laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
• Master’s degree with relevant coursework or research experience.
