Multiphysics Simulation Engineer (EV)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days per week at the Hammersmith, London office

Salary: £55,000–£60,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop, run, and interpret 3D multiphysics simulation models in COMSOL across electrical, electromagnetic, thermal, CFD, and structural domains.
• Model high-voltage systems, electric machines, battery packs, power electronics, charging systems, cabling, busbars, connectors, and sensors.
• Analyze cooling systems, airflow, pressure losses, conjugate heat transfer, stress, deformation, stiffness, vibration, fatigue, and thermal loading.
• Prepare CAD geometry and computational meshes for accurate numerical solving.
• Correlate simulation models with laboratory, rig, supplier, and track-test data, and perform parametric and optimization studies.
• Integrate component models into virtual race-car representations and communicate assumptions, solver settings, limitations, and findings to technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• MEng or MSc in electrical, electronic, mechanical, automotive, aerospace, computational, or mechatronics engineering, applied physics, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant physics-based simulation experience in industry, applied research, or advanced engineering development.
• Practical experience with 3D physics-based modeling across electrical or electromagnetic systems, thermal management, CFD, or structural mechanics.
• Understanding of numerical methods, boundary conditions, mesh quality, and solver convergence.
• Experience preparing CAD geometry and correlating simulation models with physical test or telemetry data.
• Strong engineering judgment and written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics or other professional CAE tools.
• Experience with EV high-voltage systems or electric powertrains.
