Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Newport, United Kingdom; based at the Celtic Lakes facility. The role may include some shift patterns to support cleanroom operations.

What you will do

• Design 3D mechanical parts and assemblies and create detailed 2D drawings using Solid Edge CAD.
• Create engineering bills of materials and support bill-of-material cost control.
• Build and test prototypes, troubleshoot manufacturing process equipment, and investigate faults.
• Lead small mechanical design projects from concept through implementation for CVD, PVD, or Etch products.
• Work with suppliers and collaborate with engineering, operations, customer, and other internal teams.
• Prepare technical reports, patent application materials, conference papers, presentations, and project updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree at minimum, with a 2:1 result, in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
• Logical, analytical, and creative approach to solving complex technological problems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to collect, filter, and analyse data.
• Good communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Passion for learning and continuous professional development.
• Experience is not required; full on-the-job training is provided through the graduate development scheme.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or prior study experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and MATLAB.
