Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Energy)

What you will do

• Lead the development, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical designs for energy products through the full product lifecycle.
• Drive Design-to-Cost and Design for Manufacture and Assembly initiatives to improve material, manufacturing, assembly, and supply chain costs while maintaining performance and compliance.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, technical specifications, test plans, and Bills of Materials.
• Evaluate designs for operation in harsh environments, including thermal management, ingress protection, reliability, and quality requirements.
• Lead design reviews, prototype testing, verification, failure analysis, and collaboration with engineering, operations, and purchasing teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers while planning work and estimating engineering costs and timescales.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline at minimum 2:1 level, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, product design, and development, including leadership of complex projects.
• Experience with sheet metal and fabricated assembly design, manufacturing and assembly processes, and hands-on prototype assembly.
• Experience designing electro-mechanical assemblies for harsh environments, including thermal management and ingress protection.
• Experience with Solid Edge or similar CAD packages, including parts, assemblies, detailed 2D drawings, and GD&T.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, prioritization, prototype testing, verification, and failure analysis skills.

• Experience leading Design-to-Cost, Value Engineering, or Design for Manufacture and Assembly initiatives.
• Experience coordinating environmental and mechanical product verification.
