Manager, General Accounting

Location: Northbrook, Illinois, United States; onsite role

Estimated base pay: $111,400–$156,800 per year, plus an incentive program for full-time employees

What you will do

• Manage and review global fixed-asset transactions, corporate SG&A journal entries, intercompany entries, payroll-related entries, reconciliations, and account analyses.
• Coordinate financial statement and management reporting, government reporting, audit requests, and general ledger control procedures.
• Lead accounting for property, plant and equipment, payroll, and corporate SG&A expenses.
• Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance support for a team of six individual contributors and three supervisors.
• Lead process-improvement initiatives, accounting research, special projects, and adoption of new accounting policies and standards.
• Collaborate with corporate controllers, plant accounting, Information Technology, Tax, Treasury, auditors, and other corporate departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 10 years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility, including five or more years of supervisory experience in an accounting environment.
• Knowledge of automated accounting systems, including SAP and BPC consolidations.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications and the Windows environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an understanding of how the business environment affects financial statements.

Nice to have

• CPA certification and/or a master’s degree.
• Knowledge of FASB and AICPA requirements.
