Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op (Snowplow Manufacturing)

Location: Iron Mountain, Michigan, United States; onsite at the Iron Mountain plant

Salary: $22.00–$28.00 per hour, based on completed schooling.

BOSS Snowplow, a division of The Toro Company, develops snow and ice management equipment including truck, UTV, and ATV plows, salt and sand spreaders, and box plows.

What you will do

• Assist with the design and implementation of new snowplow products.
• Design fixtures and tools for welding, assembly, and machine areas.
• Support preventative maintenance procedures and plant problem-solving efforts.
• Participate in and lead one-week Rapid Improvement (Kaizen) events.
• Create standard work procedures and collaborate with design engineers to reduce costs and improve product quality.

Requirements

• Pursuing a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of welding, metal cutting and forming, painting, and assembly processes.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
• Experience with fixture design and strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Pro-Engineer.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work by deadlines and importance.

Nice to have

• Experience with 3D CAD or Creo Parametric.
