TL;DR
Automation Reliability & Performance Manager (Robotics): Leading reliability and performance improvements for robotic assembly equipment at a 24/7 production site with an accent on downtime data integrity, maintenance systems, safety, and cross-functional corrective actions. Focus on analyzing top losses, building AM/PM/CM/PdM programs, managing technical acceptance and spare parts, and developing a team that sustains equipment availability.

Location: Florence, Kentucky, United States. Workplace: On-site. The role supports a 24/7 production operation and requires availability as the final escalation point outside standard hours.

Company

Software-defined manufacturing company building intelligent automation systems that combine robotics, machine vision, and AI for electronics assembly.

What you will do

  • Lead Automation Engineers supporting robotic assembly equipment and 24/7 shift coverage.
  • Own downtime and failure data quality, reason codes, loss analysis, Pareto prioritization, and verified corrective actions.
  • Represent technical availability through daily and weekly reporting covering MTBF, MTTR, PM completion, work orders, parts availability, and data completeness.
  • Build and manage autonomous, preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs through the CMMS.
  • Own technical acceptance of new equipment, including safety validation, schematics, backups, licenses, spare parts, and maintenance inputs.
  • Manage the rapid-build workspace and spare parts inventory, including tooling, replenishment, traceability, vendors, and budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 7+ years in reliability, maintenance, or automation engineering, including 3+ years leading a technical team in a high-mix robotic or automated environment.
  • Experience improving equipment availability through structured loss analysis, downtime data capture, root cause analysis, and before/after verification.
  • Working knowledge of OEE, TPM, autonomous maintenance, criticality-based planning, PFMEA, and RCM.
  • Hands-on knowledge of servo systems, pneumatics, vision systems, conveyors, end-of-arm tooling, PLC logic, and industrial robot controllers.
  • Knowledge of LOTO, NFPA 70E, robot cell safety systems, CMMS platforms, data analysis tools, and AI-assisted predictive maintenance.

Nice to have

  • Experience in contract manufacturing, electronics assembly, PCB handling, or server and data center hardware manufacturing.
  • Experience with equipment OEM engineering teams, MES integration, software and systems engineering, or machine design feedback loops.
  • CMRP certification, formal RCM or FMEA facilitation, or Lean/TPM practitioner experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on technical leadership in a software-defined manufacturing environment.
  • Cross-functional work with Automation/Controls, Software, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Design, Quality, EHS, and equipment vendors.
  • Responsibility for building sustainable maintenance processes, engineering bench strength, and structured knowledge sharing across shifts.
  • Direct impact on machine availability, production resilience, safety, and manufacturing platform improvements.
