Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician

Location: East Sparta, Ohio, USA

Pay range: $21.20–$29.15 per hour, depending on the hiring locality.

What you will do

• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment, compact equipment, light service equipment, and light trucks.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel and gasoline vehicles, including compactors, excavators, and wheel loaders.
• Service engines, transmissions, chassis, drivelines, hydraulic, brake, electrical, suspension, steering, wheel-end, tire, and undercarriage systems.
• Perform gas and diesel engine overhauls and work with Tier 4 emission systems.
• Review equipment condition reports, repair orders, oil samples, onboard computer data, and fleet management software.
• Document parts usage, work times, consumables, repairs, and safety compliance.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience as a heavy equipment technician.
• Advanced knowledge of air brakes, tires, hydraulics, electrical systems, drivetrains, suspension, steering, and wheel-end components.
• Mechanical trade school certificate or degree.
• Certificate in electrical diagnostics and applicable ASE certifications.
• At least 1 year of experience applying OSHA HazCom, lockout/tagout, and fire protection regulations.
• Welding or fabrication skills and experience.
