Client Office Phlebotomist Float (Healthcare)

Location: Various client sites in the areas surrounding downtown and the Northside of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Regular travel between client sites is required.

Salary: USD 20.25–27.34 per hour, including float differential compensation.

What you will do

• Perform phlebotomy and laboratory specimen collection for infant, adult, geriatric, and wheelchair-bound patients.
• Provide post-phlebotomy care, identify medical assistance needs, and follow patient-safety procedures.
• Label, process, transfer, and track specimens, requisitions, orders, results, and related documentation.
• Maintain refrigerator temperature records, quality-control records, corrective-action logs, and equipment readiness.
• Communicate with patients, client office staff, laboratory personnel, physicians, and coworkers regarding orders, specimens, results, and issues.
• Perform related clerical duties, including faxing, printing, filing, reviewing, and verbally releasing laboratory results.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Nationally recognized phlebotomy certification, phlebotomy-school or medical-institution training, or at least one year of healthcare phlebotomy experience.
• Ability to work Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and two weekends per month.
• Ability to drive to client sites in downtown and Northside Chicago.
• Ability to collect specimens from a broad range of patient types and work independently while multitasking.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance are preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience processing and transferring laboratory specimens and handling a centrifuge.
• Familiarity with medical EMR systems.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
