Medical Laboratory Scientist (Part-time Nights)

Location: Delnor Hospital, 300 Randall Rd., Geneva, Illinois, United States; onsite, part-time night shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., including every other weekend.

Salary: USD 34.50–46.57 per hour

What you will do

• Perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic clinical laboratory workflows, including order verification, specimen collection, processing, preparation, storage, and shipping.
• Conduct laboratory testing according to written protocols and standard operating procedures, prioritizing STAT and time-sensitive work.
• Review, interpret, verify, release, amend, and report laboratory results accurately and within established turnaround times.
• Maintain instrument and test system integrity through preventive maintenance, reagent checks, quality control, and corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot unresolved orders, unusual results, workflow issues, and instrument problems, escalating when required.
• Maintain patient confidentiality, safety standards, documentation, billing accuracy, and service quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a qualifying allied health field.
• General MLS or MT ASCP certification or eligibility, or categorical BB, C, H, or M ASCP certification or eligibility.
• Candidates hired after January 19, 2025 must obtain ASCP or equivalent certification within one year of employment.
• Ability to work onsite from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., including every other weekend.
• Ability to follow laboratory SOPs, safety procedures, quality requirements, and confidentiality standards.
