Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Clinical Laboratory Science)

Location: Onsite at UAB St. Vincent’s in Birmingham, Alabama; other listed locations include Birmingham and Pell City, Alabama, Brentwood, Tennessee, and Pensacola, Florida, United States.

What you will do

• Assess specimen acceptability and assist with specimen processing.
• Perform routine and complex technical laboratory procedures according to standard operating procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate reagents and controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
• Perform preventive maintenance, quality control, supply replenishment, and safety procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical science, biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology, or an MLS degree.
• At least one year of clinical laboratory testing experience, unless the education requirement is met through an MLS degree.
• Applicable non-traditional degrees with sufficient science credits may qualify under CLIA standards.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, use laboratory information systems, and operate computers.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test and work overtime or other shifts when needed.

Nice to have

• ASCP or AMT certification.
