Medical Laboratory Technician

Location: Onsite at Wamego Medical Center in Wamego, Kansas; other listed locations include Manhattan, Tulsa, Hot Springs, Wichita, Overland Park, and Bartlesville in the United States.

What you will do

• Determine specimen acceptability according to established testing criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical laboratory procedures following standard operating procedures.
• Monitor, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate reagents and quality controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results and process specimens as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance, quality control, supply replenishment, and safety procedures.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in chemical science, biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• Applicable non-traditional degrees with sufficient science credits may qualify under CLIA standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Computer proficiency and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test and work overtime or other shifts when required.

Nice to have

• At least two years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification.
