Staff Software Engineer - Machine Learning/Computer Vision (Robotics)

Location: Wilmington, Massachusetts, USA; hybrid work. Up to 10% travel to client and customer locations may be required.

Base salary: $149,000–$223,000 per year, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Implement and maintain on-bot computer vision solutions using Python, C++, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern development tools.
• Build on-bot and cloud infrastructure for binocular and 3D vision solutions.
• Design dashboards and metrics for developing and monitoring vision systems.
• Work with sensor packages, electrical engineers, and Linux kernel developers to ensure accurate and timely data processing.
• Collaborate with QA and DevOps engineers to deploy vision solutions across the robot fleet.
• Own a perception subsystem and contribute to the development and deployment of machine learning solutions.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline.
• At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience and strong expertise in at least one programming language and its associated stack.
• Ability to understand and help design perception hardware and software stacks for complex robotics systems.
• Direct experience developing machine learning models from scratch and implementing state-of-the-art computer vision models in real-world applications.
• Ability to lead and own a perception subsystem while collaborating across engineering teams.
• Ability to travel up to 10% and drive and/or fly to client and customer locations; a valid driver’s license is required.

Nice to have

• Experience building portable containerized solutions for cloud and edge environments.
• Experience with ML cloud computing tools such as Weights & Biases, TFX, TensorBoard, and KFP.
