Senior Perception Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States. This is an onsite office role, five days a week.

Base salary: $208,000–$245,000 per year, plus potential equity awards.

What you will do

• Design, train, deploy, and optimize machine learning models for autonomous-system perception.
• Develop object detection, classification, segmentation, tracking, scene understanding, and temporal reasoning systems.
• Build 3D perception, geometric reasoning, calibration, and multi-sensor fusion systems using cameras, LiDAR, radar, IMU, and other sensors.
• Create data, training, evaluation, and experimentation pipelines and define metrics connected to real-world system behavior.
• Deploy perception models on latency- and resource-constrained robotic platforms and improve performance in challenging conditions.
• Investigate failures in deployed systems and collaborate with AI Research, Robotics, ML Infrastructure, Software, Hardware, and Systems Engineering.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of relevant experience with perception systems, computer vision, and machine learning models.
• Strong software engineering skills in Python and/or C++.
• Experience developing perception systems for autonomous vehicles, robotics, drones, industrial automation, or other embodied systems.
• Experience with robotic sensor modalities, multi-sensor or multimodal architectures, and 3D geometry.
• Experience deploying and optimizing machine learning models for real-time or safety-critical systems.
• Experience with large-scale perception datasets, training infrastructure, production debugging, and data-driven iteration.

Nice to have

• Publications or significant research contributions in computer vision, machine learning, robotics, or a related field.
