Supplier Quality Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid attendance required at least three times per week. The role requires travel of up to 50% domestically and internationally. Relocation benefits are not provided.

What you will do

• Act as the technical liaison between purchasing, product engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.
• Ensure supplier compliance with APQP processes and PPAP submission and approval requirements.
• Review and approve supplier quality plans, including Control Plans and PFMEA, for new vehicle components and assemblies.
• Review supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems and monitor part qualification and certification activities.
• Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, supplier visits, and onsite workshops to improve quality performance.
• Provide technical support during supplier launches, changeovers, and ongoing production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in quality, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Knowledge of probability, statistical quality control, and design of experiments.
• Ability to investigate quality problems, develop technical solutions, manage multiple projects, and lead cross-functional teams.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work from the Warren, Michigan location under the hybrid attendance requirement; immigration sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in business or engineering and technical or quality certifications.
• OEM or Tier 1 experience in automotive quality, manufacturing, or engineering.
• Experience with Red X, DFSS, DMAIC, lean manufacturing, APQP, or PPAP.
• Experience with body or exterior components, injection molding, painting, or plating processes.
• Knowledge of print reading, part measurement, gage design, GD&T, and manufacturing or assembly plant processes.
