TL;DR
Quality Assurance Engineering P17 (Supplier Quality): Leading supplier compliance, evaluations, audits, corrective actions, and quality metrics for energetic-materials devices and subsystems with an accent on root-cause analysis, supplier process control, and regulated production environments. Focus on applying 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, Six Sigma, Lean, PFMEA, SPC, and PPAP methods to eliminate recurring supplier failures and improve quality performance.

Location: Hollister, CA, United States. The role requires in-person management meetings, training, and travel to suppliers as needed.

Salary: $100,000–$186,000 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus.

What you will do

  • Lead supplier evaluations, risk assessments, process audits, compliance assessments, and supplier monitoring.
  • Analyze supplier failures and create corrective action plans using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, Six Sigma, and Lean methods.
  • Generate quality metrics and reports covering PPM, non-conformances, SCARs, scorecards, and required actions.
  • Support supplier development, non-conforming investigations, failure review boards, and inspection plans.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, New Product Development, Strategic Sourcing, Quality Inspection, and Purchasing.
  • Train operators and quality engineers and contribute subject-matter expertise on supplier products and processes.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in a QMS-controlled production environment such as AS9100, ISO 9001, or ISO 13485.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred; relevant non-degree experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of PFMEAs, control builds, SPC, supplier quality processes, and statistical software.
  • Hands-on experience with 8D, Ishikawa, 3D, and 5-Whys tools.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to independently assess supplier issues and develop proportionate action plans.
  • U.S. citizenship or qualifying U.S. person status is required, or the candidate must collaborate on obtaining applicable export authorizations.

Nice to have

  • ASQ or Lead Auditor certification.
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process.
  • Experience with ordnance, energetic materials, powders, or propellants.
