Senior PCBA & Backend Assembly Process Engineer (SMT)

What you will do

• Transfer electronic assemblies into contract manufacturing, including documentation, data files, tooling, and issue resolution.
• Assess contract manufacturer readiness through on-site evaluations and monitor manufacturing performance.
• Review PCB and PCBA design files and coordinate documentation updates with configuration management and engineering teams.
• Develop and maintain electronic assembly work instructions.
• Conduct Design for Manufacturing reviews using CAD data and provide feedback on product specifications, materials, and assembly qualification.
• Resolve manufacturing and process issues while communicating capability feedback to planning, engineering, and management.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in electronic assembly manufacturing and process engineering, including SMT.
• Experience applying IPC-610 workmanship standards for electronic assemblies.
• Proficiency with CAD packages for PCB and PCBA design reviews; Mentor Graphics Valor DFM experience is required.
• Experience with automated surface-mount and through-hole assembly processes and troubleshooting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Fluent English and willingness to relocate to Guadalajara, Mexico if not currently located there.

Nice to have

• Experience improving backend processes through mechanical design changes, SPC, or Poka-yoke implementations.
