O&M Shift Leader (Waste-to-Energy)

What you will do

• Lead the assigned operating shift and supervise Operators and support personnel.
• Act as the senior management representative during nights, weekends, and holidays when senior management is off site.
• Maintain safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant processes, systems, and equipment in line with HSEQ requirements, Irish environmental regulations, production targets, and contractual obligations.
• Lead safety meetings, maintain operational procedures and emergency arrangements, and ensure operators are trained and competent.
• Monitor interlocks, alarms, trips, and control loops; respond to operational issues and emergencies.
• Maintain shift logs and reports, raise maintenance requests, and coach and develop the shift team.

Requirements

• Relevant engineering or technical qualification; a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is desirable but not essential with significant relevant experience.
• At least five years of experience in an Energy-from-Waste, power generation, or similar industrial plant environment.
• Previous Shift Leader, Shift Team Leader, or senior operational experience, ideally including two to three years at Shift Leader level.
• Strong understanding of plant operations, equipment interlocks, alarms, trips, and control loops, with the ability to diagnose problems and identify root causes.
• Demonstrable leadership, communication, people-management, and decision-making skills.
• Fluent English and a strong understanding of HSEQ standards, procedures, and requirements are essential.

Nice to have

• Experience in mass-burn, waste-fired, or fossil-fuel plant environments.
