Lead Instrumentation Engineer

Location: Hybrid role connected to the Cork office, either Mahon or Fota

What you will do

• Lead instrumentation engineering activities within large multidisciplinary project teams.
• Analyze complex engineering problems and develop effective, cost-efficient solutions.
• Prepare and manage instrumentation packages for bids, approvals, and construction.
• Support fee proposals, capital budgets, project execution, resourcing, and change control.
• Mentor junior and intermediate instrumentation engineers and conduct peer reviews.
• Work with clients, vendors, project field personnel, and site teams, including participating in site visits to review and sign off instrument installations.

Requirements

• Third-level degree in Instrumentation Engineering or a similar discipline.
• 10+ years of formal experience in heavy industrial engineering design.
• Advanced experience across instrumentation design services, including instrument indexes, I/O lists, specifications, data sheets, layouts, cable containment, block diagrams, system architecture, ATEX and hazardous areas, and clean room applications.
• Proficiency with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) and digital project delivery.
• Advanced knowledge of applicable instrumentation codes, standards, and industry practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare specifications and contract documents.
