Senior Global Indirect Sourcing Category Manager (Logistics)

Location: Deerfield, Illinois, United States; domestic travel up to 25% as business needs require.

Base salary: $81,000–$124,000 USD annually, plus an annual bonus or role-based sales incentive plan.

What you will do

• Own sourcing strategy for more than $300 million in transportation and logistics spend across truckload, LTL, parcel, intermodal, and international modes.
• Analyze spend, shipment profiles, freight lanes, supplier utilization, market conditions, and cost drivers to identify optimization opportunities.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives, including RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, bid analysis, negotiations, supplier selection, contracting, and implementation.
• Develop sourcing strategies covering total landed cost, service performance, capacity, risk, sustainability, technology, and operational requirements.
• Partner with Legal, Risk Management, Finance, Logistics, Operations, and business leaders on agreements, service levels, supplier transitions, and change management.
• Monitor supplier performance, contract terms, cost savings, operational risks, corrective actions, and logistics network improvements.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of progressive experience in transportation or logistics sourcing or operations, with multi-mode expertise.
• Experience owning transportation spend at scale, preferably $100 million or more, and leading strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of logistics pricing, fuel surcharge programs, accessorial charges, and carrier or 3PL operating models.
• Experience with spend analysis, market research, RFx development, proposal evaluation, negotiation, contracting, award recommendations, and implementation.
• Strong stakeholder management, presentation, written, verbal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage multiple sourcing projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, procurement, business, finance, operations, or a related discipline is preferred.

• International logistics experience.
• Experience in a complex, multi-business, multi-location, or global organization.
• CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, CTL, or equivalent procurement or supply chain certification.
