Instrumentation & Controls Engineer (Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology)

Location: South Tipperary, Ireland; site-based with a minimum of four days per week on site

What you will do

• Deliver feasibility, outline, and detailed instrumentation and control design, including I/O schedules, alarm schedules, cause-and-effect schedules, instrument indexes, data sheets, loop drawings, and control philosophies.
• Develop system architectures, fieldbus designs, cable schedules, containment designs, functional safety documentation, and design substantiation.
• Support site visits, data collection, general engineering projects, bids, and proposal documentation.
• Review technical deliverables and ensure compliance with applicable design codes and legislation.
• Manage instrumentation and system integration vendors and subcontractors.
• Provide project team leadership and support project delivery from concept through handover.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in instrumentation engineering or a similar engineering discipline.
• Experience in control and instrumentation specification and design.
• Knowledge of Profibus DP and Modbus RTU fieldbus technology.
• Experience reviewing vendor submittals and managing vendors or subcontractors.
• Design experience in ATEX-classified areas, S88, and functional safety specification and design.
• Proficiency in Windows-based software and strong written, verbal, interpersonal, teamwork, and prioritization skills.

Nice to have

• Experience programming or configuring PLC and DCS systems.
• Industrial LV cabling design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical calculations.
• Previous I&C design and construction support experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments.
