Senior Software Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Ontario, Canada; remote-first, with the option to work from home or the Toronto-based office

Salary: $160,000–$195,000 CAD total target cash compensation per year

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of full-stack features for an AI-powered web application using Python, React, Redux, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
• Define technical vision and architectural principles for AI/ML systems.
• Research and prototype emerging AI technologies, including systems that automate manual insurance-broker processes and generate data-driven insights.
• Apply security, scalability, observability, cloud architecture, distributed systems, and microservices best practices.
• Partner with product, design, and business teams on technical designs, strategy, release planning, and company-wide engineering initiatives.
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and drive technical decisions through ambiguous, system-spanning problems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in full-stack web development and production AI/ML systems.
• Strong development skills in React, Python, and Node, or equivalent technologies.
• Deep knowledge of AI/ML domains such as NLP, computer vision, and recommendation engines.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, microservices, and security best practices.
• Ability to architect and lead end-to-end AI projects, communicate technical decisions, and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Experience managing ambiguity, building foundational systems, and delivering innovative solutions in a startup environment.
