TL;DR
Systems Integration Engineer (Fusion Energy): Supporting the integration of complex fusion-energy and high-temperature superconducting magnet systems with an accent on requirements management, system architectures, interfaces, and verification. Focus on coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams, managing technical risks, and developing system-level solutions for evolving large-scale programmes.

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. Permanent hybrid position with regular onsite collaboration, typically around three days per week across programme locations.

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

What you will do

  • Support systems engineering activities across major fusion and advanced engineering programmes.
  • Capture, manage, and maintain system requirements with full traceability.
  • Develop system architectures, functional breakdown structures, and interface definitions.
  • Coordinate information across magnet design, cryogenics, electrical systems, instrumentation, and plant integration teams.
  • Support technical and readiness reviews, informed engineering decisions, and technical risk management.
  • Develop verification and validation strategies and improve systems engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience applying systems engineering methods in complex engineering environments.
  • Track record in requirements management, architecture development, and verification activities.
  • Experience working on technically complex products, systems, or programmes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
  • Experience working across multiple engineering disciplines and using requirements management tools.
