Software Systems Engineer (Satellite Communications)

Location: Portsmouth, UK, with hybrid working. The role includes approximately 20% travel in the UK and internationally.

What you will do

• Champion the modelling process across the software system development lifecycle.
• Design and analyse software systems for satellite communications solutions under the guidance of the System Design Authority.
• Work with software development and test teams to assess component feasibility, user requirements, and solution details.
• Define and contribute to high-level software system architectural designs using peer review processes.
• Determine the role of software components within the wider system solution.
• Communicate system-design concerns, results, and ideas, and support critical operations when needed.

Requirements

• Experience with SysML-compliant architectural modelling tools such as Rhapsody, Cameo, Gaphor, or similar; training on Enterprise Architect is available.
• Experience modelling system designs and familiarity with interpreting Model-Based Systems Engineering diagrams.
• Knowledge of software solutions in a software product environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to gather information from internal and external departments.
• Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance.
• Willingness to travel approximately 20% in the UK and internationally.
