Commissioning Director, EMEA (UK or Norway)

Location: London/UK or Norway, with extensive travel across the EMEA portfolio and approximately 60–70% international travel, including remote Arctic sites in winter conditions. Right to work in the UK or Norway, or eligibility for sponsorship, is required.

What you will do

• Create and own the Group Commissioning Execution Standard, including L0–L6 testing, evidence rules, defect taxonomy, and turnover requirements.
• Hold the acceptance gate for energisation, capacity acceptance, and handover across the portfolio.
• Select and govern a commissioning management platform covering evidence, defects, and progress.
• Embed commissioning requirements into project programmes, EPC contracts, and OEM packages.
• Lead commissioning methodology for direct-to-chip liquid cooling, high-voltage systems, grid interfaces, backup systems, and full-load failure testing.
• Build an internationally mobile commissioning function and lead operational readiness, tenant acceptance, and transfer to Operations.

Requirements

• 15+ years in critical facilities engineering, including 8+ years leading commissioning at programme or portfolio level.
• Owner-side or client-side accountability for accepting large-scale data centre capacity.
• Integrated systems testing through acceptance on at least two hyperscale or AI data centre projects of 50 MW or greater.
• Experience with high-density liquid cooling, high-voltage and medium-voltage commissioning, energisation sequencing, and protection coordination.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams across borders, time zones, and languages, with knowledge of EPC contracts and handover mechanisms.
• Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent expertise, plus willingness to travel internationally at 60–70%.

Nice to have

• Nordic market experience and familiarity with NEK 400, FSE, and the DSB regime.
• Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.
• Tenant acceptance testing, Uptime Institute certification, lender technical adviser processes, or insurer-driven assurance experience.
• Experience with commissioning management platforms, Primavera P6, BESS, on-site generation, or heat-reuse commissioning.
• Chartered or professionally registered engineer status and experience in a rapidly scaling business.
