Technical Director Electrical Engineering (Mission Critical Data Centers)

What you will do

• Act as the senior electrical technical authority across the EMEA data center portfolio.
• Lead electrical design governance, assurance, technical reviews, approvals, and sign-off across the full project lifecycle.
• Direct multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate with Product, Delivery, Construction, Commissioning, Procurement, Operations, consultants, and suppliers.
• Oversee critical electrical systems including HV/MV/LV infrastructure, substations, UPS systems, generators, protection, power distribution, earthing, and controls.
• Support reference design integrity, product standardisation, resilience validation, constructability, commissioning readiness, and operational handover.
• Evaluate AI-ready infrastructure, high-density compute, liquid cooling, energy storage, renewable integration, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status with IET, CIBSE, or an equivalent professional body.
• 10–15+ years of electrical engineering experience in mission-critical or large-scale infrastructure environments.
• Strong experience with hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, or edge data centers and critical power infrastructure.
• Proven leadership of complex engineering programmes, multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and technical deliverables.
• Strong understanding of engineering governance, resilience, redundancy, operational risk, and applicable IEC, BS, TIA-942, Uptime Institute Tier, and utility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with modular, prefabricated, or industrialised delivery models.
• Experience with BIM-enabled workflows and Revit-based coordination.
• Experience across multiple international markets, AI-ready infrastructure, or liquid cooling deployments.
• Experience contributing to technical standards, engineering governance, or engineering assurance programmes.
