Senior Primary Design Engineer (Substations)

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; hybrid remote/office work.

What you will do

• Deliver primary engineering designs in line with established processes and business strategy.
• Prepare technical specifications for primary equipment, substation layouts, civil guide drawings, loading calculations, and Design Intent Documents.
• Review and comment on equipment supplier offers.
• Monitor engineering delivery progress against project programmes and escalate issues to the team leader.
• Collaborate with the team and take ownership for design quality and project delivery.

Requirements

• 7–9 years of design experience in the electricity transmission and distribution industry.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of substation layouts and primary equipment for projects up to 400kV.
• Knowledge of current transmission and distribution standards and technologies.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards, including CDM regulations, applicable to high-voltage substation design.
• Experience checking primary designs on 3D models.
