Platform Engineering Manager (Infra + DevOps)

Location: Remote within the United States; occasional access to satellite offices in the San Francisco Bay Area and Austin, Texas.

Salary: $211,500–$235,000 USD annually, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead a small team of Staff+ platform engineers building and operating infrastructure and core services for the Care Platform.
• Own the platform engineering roadmap, strategic priorities, tradeoffs, and day-to-day execution.
• Guide cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, developer tooling, reliability and operations, security foundations, and shared architecture.
• Balance planned roadmap work with incidents, KTLO, and unplanned operational demand.
• Partner with senior technical individual contributors and engineering domain teams on platform boundaries and self-service capabilities.
• Provide context, feedback, development, and technical direction while maintaining hands-on credibility.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software or platform engineering experience.
• 3+ years managing Senior or Staff-level engineers in a platform, infrastructure, or SRE organization at a product-centric company.
• Hands-on technical depth with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, Infrastructure as Code such as CDK or Terraform, Kubernetes production systems, CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or ArgoCD, and service-to-service architecture.
• Experience creating platform roadmaps, making technical tradeoffs visible, and balancing foundational investment with operational demand.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across engineering and management audiences.
• Must be located in the United States; the role is remote-first and does not require permanent relocation.

• Technology startup experience and familiarity with evolving platform maturity.
• Experience defining boundaries between platform teams and domain teams.
• Knowledge of infrastructure security reviews and compliance frameworks.
