Software Development Manager, Platform Engineering

Location: Oregon, USA — Remote. In-person onboarding and/or identity verification may be required.

Salary: $148,000–$264,990 annual base salary for U.S.-based roles; offers depend on experience and geographic location and may exceed this range.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and support a Platform and DevOps engineering team while fostering an inclusive and psychologically safe culture.
• Own delivery for business applications, including roadmap execution, release planning, risk management, SLOs, SLIs, on-call practices, and incident response.
• Operate and evolve Kubernetes/EKS environments across multi-availability-zone and multi-region AWS architectures.
• Drive GitOps and CI/CD practices using tools such as Argo CD, Flux, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy.
• Build reusable paved roads, templates, and self-service developer workflows using Terraform and AWS CDK.
• Improve observability, security, cost efficiency, scalability, reliability, and performance across AWS and Kubernetes environments.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience leading and developing engineers, plus 7+ years of cloud infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering, or related experience.
• Experience delivering and operating business-critical applications in AWS environments.
• Strong experience with AWS services including EKS, EC2, VPC networking, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudWatch.
• Experience with Kubernetes operations, Helm, autoscaling, infrastructure security, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and Terraform and/or AWS CDK.
• Programming experience in Python, Java, TypeScript, or Node.js, with familiarity with SRE practices, incident management, SLIs/SLOs, and operational excellence.
• Strong communication and stakeholder partnership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building Internal Developer Platforms and self-service engineering workflows.
• Experience with service meshes, policy engines, secrets management, platform governance, multi-region architectures, and resilience engineering.
• Knowledge of observability platforms, distributed tracing, synthetic monitoring, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, SNS, or SQS.
• Familiarity with SOX, SOC2, compliance frameworks, and FinOps practices.
