Senior Engineering Manager (Cloud Engineering)

Location: Fully remote within the United States, or hybrid work from the Brooklyn, NY or Washington, DC hubs.

Salary: $240,000–$280,000 annual base salary.

What you will do

• Lead the team responsible for regulated and sovereign environments, including FedRAMP deployments and dedicated sovereign clusters.
• Own the architecture and operation of cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure, including Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, and release tooling.
• Standardize environment builds into repeatable blueprints and improve the speed and scalability of accredited deployments.
• Drive technical quality through design reviews, RFCs, prototypes, and hands-on engineering of operational tooling and greenfield projects.
• Partner with Security and Compliance to maintain accreditations, remediate vulnerabilities, manage access reviews, and meet data-handling obligations.
• Lead planning, operational practice, cost management, incident response, hiring, performance management, and career development for a distributed engineering team.

Requirements

• Background in SRE or platform engineering leadership, with direct experience managing engineers, hiring, performance, and growth.
• 8+ years building and operating production cloud infrastructure, including end-to-end ownership of an environment.
• Direct experience delivering into US federal or other highly regulated government environments, such as FedRAMP or an equivalent accreditation program.
• Production experience with AWS and/or Azure, strong Infrastructure as Code skills using Terraform, OpenTofu, or similar, and hands-on Kubernetes cluster management.
• Experience designing tooling for air-gapped and compliance-heavy infrastructure, along with operational practices including runbooks, on-call coverage, documentation, and incident response.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience leading across distant time zones, and a BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Eligibility for a US security clearance.
• Experience with non-US national accreditation regimes or taking a compliance program from initial authorization through assessment.
• Experience in a startup or high-growth technology company.
