Director of Platform Engineering

What you will do

• Build and lead a new Platform Engineering group, hiring, coaching, and developing DevOps and platform engineers.
• Set architecture standards for systems and databases, promoting reuse and reviewing significant designs.
• Own security, compliance, identity and access, vulnerability management, and the SOC2 program.
• Establish reliable backup, recovery, monitoring, alerting, on-call, incident response, and runbook practices.
• Standardize deployments, secrets management, CI/CD, and cloud cost management across AWS and Azure.
• Consolidate acquired platforms onto a shared Novi platform with common authentication and deployment paths, while providing tools and templates for product teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering, including 3+ years leading engineering teams.
• Deep AWS experience with production Kubernetes, EKS, and Terraform; Azure experience is a plus.
• Experience owning a SOC2 Type II or similar compliance program, as well as monitoring, on-call, incident response, backup, disaster recovery, and restore testing.
• Experience managing cloud spend at scale and communicating cost, risk, and architecture tradeoffs to executives.
• Experience with Snowflake or Redshift, Postgres, MongoDB, and Airflow data platforms.
• Player-coach leadership style, clear executive communication, and comfort with AI-assisted engineering; a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience consolidating platforms after acquisitions.
• Experience with oil and gas, geospatial, or time-series data.
• Azure experience.
